Peter and Yvelyn's ROM was one of those that I really, really, like. I have so many pictures I want to share with you guys from the day with them I don't know where to start or how to choose a select few to post on the blog! So guess what? This is going to be a rather picture heavy post. Well, more picture heavy than usual, anyway.

I love all the details of their wedding! From the guestbook which was hand drawn by Peter and coloured in my Yvelyn depicting their love story over time, to the little black board and dolls, and the little placecard with everyone's name on them for the seating arrangement - it was all so lovely. I guess there's just something different about having done everything yourself by hand, it's your special day and you have a bigger role in it than hiring someone else to do it for you.

It was almost rained that day, and I remember just as I reached home after their solemnization, these big heavy raindrops fell from the sky. Luckily they were all indoors at that point enjoying a yummilicious lunch at the Shangri-La.

Hello!

For those who don't know, I've been missing for a little while because my boyfriend is in town! We did a little video on what he thought of the trip in general. He was here for slightly more than a week and I brought him on a mini food tour! We went to eat dim sum at Chinatown, salted egg crab and butter crab at Mellben seafood, Tampopo ramen, just to name a few. We also managed to head down to the CSI Experience at the science centre, and he followed me to work one day as well.

Now he's gone back to Australia (take me with you!) and we're both just looking forward to the next trip - Chinese New Year. It'll be even more of a food tour because then I can show him all the Chinese New Year goodies!

We did a mini photo-shoot type of thing on of the days, where I gave my sister a camera, a 50mm, and told her to be trigger happy. She did complain about the fact that there is no zoom (duh, it's a prime lens!), but I did think they photos came out quite nice and I should be printing some of them out to put on my wall. :D

Just a little update for you guys to explain why I haven't been that active recently. :)

Yesterday's wedding was amazing! The ever gorgeous Meiwen looked even more gorgeous all dolled up and pretty! It was really quite a long wedding and I was so tired I came home and fell asleep in my dress. Anyway, I couldn't wait to share with all of you some of the pictures I shot from the day... Do You Remember We Were Sitting There By The Water?

Anna is quite possibly the sweetest bride I've shot! We had a quick session at the Registry, where her and Jacob exchanged vows and a really delightful kiss and with that, we went off to the botanical gardens for a short shoot, to remember the day by! Getting married at the registry tends to feel really surreal, because of how fast everything goes, and the JPs there tend to always be in such a rush! They happen to get a really friendly, smiley JP, so it was a lot more pleasant than usual for me!

We were really scared that it was going to rain, but the weather held up and it gave us a very nice diffused lighting for the day! Oh, and a side note: they used to go pa tuo (dating) at the Swan Lake when they were younger, so it was quite apt that we were at the gardens that day!

I absolutely LOVE her flowers. The hint of pink on the inside is so beautiful!

Wedding Tips #1

Hi Everyone! So today I uploaded a video talking about some tips I have learnt from shooting weddings, and I thought about sharing them with you. This video talks about how to get nice looking photos in your wedding day (other than hiring a good, reputable photographer, of course!), what to look out for, such as smiling, and keeping your room neat, etc.

Let me know if you guys have any tips of your own to share for other brides and grooms to be, and if you guys like this sort of videos! If you do, I'll upload more! I do have some other tips to share as well, I just didn't want to spend too long talking.

Four Five Six Seven Eight;

Hi guys! It's a friday night and guess what? I'm not out partying with my friends, but I just came home from a very long and tiring shoot! So...

Decided to do a little post today about photography assisting. It's something that I enjoy doing from time to time, helping other photographers out with their shoots and stuff like that. I think it's fun! I get to see how different people work, and see what works for them and how it can apply to my own shoots as well. I get to play with their equipment and get to go behind the scenes in places that most people normally don't go to, and see what most people normally don't get to see. Oh, and I love that the pressure is off me, but I still get to enjoy being part of a team and working in a set.

When I'm assisting, I usually try to read the photographer's mind, try to get things ready before he even asks for them. His usual tools, or if she wants a change of lens, setting up the next shot while he finishes the last, stuff like that. I usually spend the first couple of times assisting a photographer observing, just to find out what type of photographer he is. Though, sometimes there are just photographers that I can't read, for example, I have no idea whether or not he wants to adjust the props himself, or he'd like me to do it. Or what he is trying to achieve by asking me to do things that don't seem to make sense.

On a much sadder note: After five years of assisting countless photographers... I broke my first bulb today. I feel so utterly bad! I'm usually really careful with equipment, so this just made me frustrated at myself for letting that happen. Live and learn, I guess!

When Make Up Can't Fix It...

Hi guys! Thought I'd just do a blog post on my love/hate relationship with Photoshop. The love: I've been using Photoshop ever since Photoshop 5.5. Yes, 5.5, and not CS5. I was still in primary school, can you imagine? I love it so much, and I find that doing retouching, especially on people, is actually very relaxing and therapeutic. I'm weird, okay? I know that.

It does require a whole ton of patience though, case in point, I spent the last three odd hours accomplishing this:

I know it's not perfect, but I'm just saying - if I spent that much time on this image doing just that, to make it perfect you seriously need a lot more time than 3 hours.

Now, I'm not a master in Photoshop or anything, but I have been using it quite a while now so I know my way around it. It's tiring and tedious to do something like that, and my hand physically hurts after spending good quality time with the program. What I really, really don't like is that people tend to assume that Photoshop is fast and easy and a quick fix for everything - stray hairs, bad make up, etc etc. Yes, Photoshop can fix those things, but seriously, if during a shoot you spend five minutes ironing your clothes versus twelve hours in Photoshop trying to remove the wrinkles in your dress... which would be more productive?

To all my brides: most of you don't need extensive retouching, trust me on this. And with the lighting that I shoot for your AD and ROMs, it's more flattering than harsh, so you really don't have to worry.

Okay, back to my beloved, yet hated Photoshop.

Let me tell you something, Corliss and Royston are the cutest, funniest couple at an ROM I've shot so far! Oh my goodness I laughed until my stomach ached! I think the pictures will speak more for it than anything. When I was editing the photos, I remembered what went on and had to chuckle to myself in the middle of the night. How silly, right?

On another note, I'm always at a lost of what to wear to weddings! I take pride in looking presentable when shooting my client's wedding, I mean, it's really not very nice if your photographer turns up wearing berms and a ragged old t-shirt, right? It's totally disrespectful to the client! However, the clothes that I have are either too uncomfortable for me to run around the whole day in, or are too... manly.

My usual uniform is a nice t-shirt, or blouse, dark jeans, and depending on whether it is in a church or ballroom, a jacket or blazer. I'm just... getting a little bored of it. Time to go shopping, I guess? :P

Ain't No Way You're Ever Going To Get Less Than You Should

Hi Everyone! Wedding season is kicking in now, so I'd expect the posts to be lesser than usual. Like they're not little enough, right? Yes, yes, chide me, I deserve it for not blogging as much. I thought I should update you guys on what I've been working on in the non-wedding months!

I've been working with Steph from kittymao.com, who is a fabulous make up artist, to create interesting and edgy make up looks! You guys should totally check her out, she's pretty awesome!

A Quickie

I thought I'd do a quick post this morning just to share with you guys a picture from the wedding I shot yesterday. It was rather dear to me as the bride was my classmate and very good friend back in my diploma days. I was really, really happy for the both of them, and I almost cried at their church ceremony! Leon and Dorothy, may you guys have a long, long marriage, filled with happiness and laughter and little kiddies for your parents to play with!

Newest Addition To My Family!

I've got a couple new members in my family today! Introducing the 50mm 1.4. I've been using Regina's lens for quite some time and I've really grown to like it. I actually like it better than the 50mm 1.2L! Could be just my preference, I guess. But since I find that this lens is a good lens to use for work and for play, it is now added to my Canon family!

But the star (and I've been saving up for a long time for this baby) is the 5DMII. She's (yes it's a girl) an absolute beauty. I've worked with many other photographers who use the MII and have fallen in love with it over time. I have heard that the 5D produces equally good, if not better images in terms of high ISO etc, but the MII has something about it...

The fact that it can take video as well greatly helps.

So yes, I will be bringing forth higher quality images to my customers! :D

It's Enough For This Restless Warrior Just To Be With You;

This will be a slightly more personal post, so for brides and grooms who want to see pretty wedding pictures, please feel free to scroll downwards, or click the wedding category button on the right hand side. Or read on if you want to know a little bit more about the person whom you're considering entrusting your big day to!

I've shot a few long distance couples in my time as a wedding photographer, but you never really understand how it feels unless you go through it yourself. You count the days where you finally get to see each other again, the time when you spend with the other person is so precious, and you're unable to let go of each other at the airport when one of you has to leave. I am thankful that technology has advanced to a point where we could talk to each other fairly often, be it over instant messaging or Skype calls, and I wonder how was it like to have a long distance relationship in the past, where all you had were hand written letters that could possibly get lost in the mail.

This year, on the seventh lunar month (the typical slow month for wedding photographers), I took a break and flew down to Perth to visit my partner. We haven't been a couple for very long, but we've known each other for more than half a decade now, and a good duration of that time we've been really close to best friends. The feeling of being in the same place as him was so surreal, having mostly seen him through a screen. The last time I saw him in person was five years ago.

I guess, people that are meant to be together, always find their way in the end.

I spent a good portion of the trip meeting his friends and family, and another good portion just... hanging out with him. Doing simple things that we can't when we're apart like... falling asleep on his lap, tickling him, hugging him. Even something like watching a television show together seemed so special, because we can't do it normally.

I just sound so starry-eyed and emotional right now, don't I? Just thought I'd raise a glass to all those couples going through the same thing I am. Be strong, be patient, there will come a time where the distance will end, and you can finally be where you belong - in each other's arms.

Down The Road The Sun Is Shining;

I've been rather sick these couple of days, and it's been a long time since I've been sick to the point of being unable to function. But since I'm stuck at home for a day or two, I might as well make use of that time and post up more pictures! (Yes, I know, workaholic.)

Winston and Zhao Ling got married in July at the Changi Village hotel! I must say, since I stay in the west, it's really far away for me to get there, haha! But it is a very quaint place, with a beautiful view from the rooftop pool and the service staff there are very hospitable!

They met when Winston was posted to China for work, and there's a little bit in me that is always rooting for the long distance couple (you'll find out why in a later post), and finally the day has come where they can both be in the same place! I'm sure having his wife with him in Singapore is making Winston a very happy man indeed.

It's my birthday! Which means I finally have some time to myself and this little blog. I really should try to post more pictures, but blogging is really not easy! Posting up pictures on facebook is a little less time consuming and considering how I'm rushing between shoots and meetings, it is the preferred choice for posting up pictures.

And for that, I'll give you guys a nice post today, and I'll try to update again some time this month.

A Fox Trot Above My Head;

Managed to do a mini shoot for this lovely girl called Jessica earlier this year. Isn't she just really pretty? You have got to love those eyes. I love doing model shoots like this. You know the potential of the girl and you see what future they'll have and you hope for them that they'll make it big and be successful doing something that they love so much.

One thing I learnt from my new photographer idol, Mister Jerry Ghionis hailing from Melbourne Australia, is that if you can't see the beauty of the person you're photographing, you can't photograph him or her beautifully. It's something I carry with me every time I go to a shoot.

Did a shoot for Extraordinary Weddings at the Mint Toy Museum! It was really fun, and surprisingly, very tiring! The place is very nice to hold a small ROM ceremony. It overlooks Bras Basah area and the reception area is where all the toys are, and dining area has a small section where you can play old school games such as Donkey or Old Maid!

I'm A Woman In Love and I Love What It's Doing To Me;

Don't know how many of you out there know, but my bosslady, Regina, is about to have her baby within the week! I've been wanting to post her baby shower photos for a long time now, but I do have quite a bit on my hands, so finally, here are the pictures!

Her husband, Dylan, is one of the sweetest husbands around! He went all out of his way to plan for a baby shower for Regina, calling all her friends and making sure Regina never found out. On the day itself it was quite funny! There were a lot of sneaking around Orchid Country Club, trying to prepare the decorations without being seen by Regina, and that was quite a challenge because she's always walking around! Some of her friends even had to dump everything they're doing and go run and hide behind a bush! How cute is that?

So after spending a ton of time in the room setting up and waiting, the proud mommy-to-be arrived, and shocked she was! :D The plan worked well and everyone had a great time laughing and talking.

Hope to see baby Hannah soon! :D

Love Somebody Like You;

Winnie and Patrick's ROM was held at the Civil Service Club down at Bukit Batok, and I really must say that they did up the place very nicely with all the balloons and other decor! I was actually really glad that there was another photographer present at their ROM as well, and since he took a lot of group shots, I could focus on what I do best - candids!

Their ceremony was a short and simple one, but of course, it's always the simple ones that really touch me the most. When Winnie was speaking, and she started to tear, that just gave me such a warm feeling inside and it showed how much the feeling of love and happiness were overwhelming.

After that, we watched a couple of videos of their courtship days, and an MTV done by their videographer with the both of them singing - I thought it was quite cute! I asked if it was really their voices, and they said that it was! If ever I have to do something like that next time... Whoever that's recording better have an amazing auto-tuning software!

I can't wait to shoot their customary, which would be happening this year too.

Welcome to the Family!

Everyone knows how terrible Singapore IT fairs can be. For one to brave the crowds, the noise, the lack of space, the constant flyers being thrusts into your face... It's not pleasant. Needless to say, the last time round I actually stepped foot into an IT show was when I was in secondary school, to buy my first point and shoot camera. That was such a long time ago...

This year, I mustered up a ton of courage and tried to plan so that I didn't go when it would be the most suffocating (Friday, 1pm), just to get a new addition to my growing Macintosh family.

Meet... Squee the Second!

Look at how big the box was! I felt so cheated! The brochure said I'd be able to get a trolley and... They told me that I needed to purchase the 27" iMac in order to get a free trolley. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to lug such a big box from Suntec City Convention Center to Pan Pacific (where I had parked my car due to the lack of parking lots)?! I swear... I almost toppled over 2-3 times, and I had to stop many a time to catch my breath/rest.

But it's all worth it! Because my baby is home with me!

This is the amount of cash I had prepared, just in case the credit card option did not work!

Topping up an extra $199, these are the extra stuff that I got. The thumbdrive was from my UOB credit card. I thought it was worth it to get an AppleCare at a cheaper price. That's the whole point of the IT show, right?

Slowly placing it on my table... I need to clear my table! This requires a lot more space! Or maybe I need a bigger table...

Booting up for the first time! So exciting!

Magic mouse (which is a dream to use) and the wireless keyboard. I asked if I could changed to the wired keyboard with the number pad, but I couldn't. Which sucks... I'd like a bigger keyboard.

The whole Macintosh family!

Yuki completely miffed that I ignored her to set up my new baby. Sorry Yuki!

The one thing I really dislike about acquiring a new computer is transferring all your stuff from the old one. Luckily, Apple computers have Migration Assistant, which hopefully after I get myself a firewire, I'd be able to use. I'm going to try leaving it overnight on my network, but it's sort of dodgy, so... I wouldn't get my hopes up for that.

But in order to tide me over, there's the marvelous screen and home sharing features!

Anyway, I'm nearly done with all my installation of programs, and it'll be as though I've been using it all my life! :D I'm very, very happy, and with this new system, I hopefully can create better quality images now!

It Was Not My Lips You Kissed, But My Soul;

Thank you to a previous bride of mine (I think you know who you are), my name has been circulating around in all the different forums! That's how Fyn and Ryan managed to find me, and asked me to cover their lovely ROM.

They held their ROM at Hotel Rendezvous! I've been there a couple of times and I really wish the hotel would do something about their parking because it is really very scary to turn into the basement! My car's quite old and I don't really mind if it gets scratched a little bit and even then, I had to reverse and turn reverse and turn before I could get into the underground parking.

When I got to the lobby, there was another couple holding an ROM as well, and thinking that the wedding party was the one I was supposed to go to, happily strolled on over to have a look at their guestbook and albums, etc. They had an album comprising of childhood pictures and I thought to myself, "Er, I think this isn't my couple."

After checking the name, I was 100% sure it wasn't my couple, haha!

I have to say that both Fyn and Ryan are really tall; and height is something I'm not exactly blessed with. The ceremony was short and sweet, and the food after was very good! Thank you for letting me cover your ROM, and I really hope that you guys enjoy the photographs!

I Can't Give You Anything But Love;

I really enjoy a couple that I can get along with, and Ziyang and Ivonne were so easy to talk to! We spent quite a bit of time joking and laughing, since we were traveling together from place to place to do some portrait shots for them after their solemnization. One of Ivonne's friends was actually my senior in secondary school, what a coincidence!

There was a bit of anxiousness in the beginning, because of the lack of parking at MND, where the temporary registry is located at, and it was making some people late! But all was well in the end. The temporary room is actually a lot nicer than the one at Fort Canning! It's a lot more spacious, the lighting is better, and even the waiting room seemed to have a bit more thought put into it.

I really loved joking and laughing with them, even their siblings, whom had tagged along and was a makeshift videographer for the day, were joining in the chuckles.

We did cover quite a bit of locations in a very short time. They were a very easy couple to pose, and I do think it's due to Ziyang being a photographer himself, understood what I wanted to achieve with my shots.

So I really do hope they enjoyed the little shoot as much as I did, and of course, I hope they love their photos as well! :)

And You Will Hold My Heart Inside Your Hand;

Having a solemnization ceremony at home is always a cosy affair, and that is exactly what Alex and Jazlyn did for theirs! The whole ceremony had a very homely feel to it, and though it everything was very simple, I felt the couple was larger than life! Hopefully the pictures below would explain why!

Alex had this pair of awesomely cool glasses. I believe they were made from a wooden frame. I mentioned this and Jazlyn told me she was the one that had picked it out for him. You have a very good eye, Jazlyn! I think Jazlyn is the kind of person I love being around. Always laughing and having fun. Anyone with them would be certain of a good time, too!

Jazlyn, not used to wearing contacts, started to put on everyone's glasses, including my own! It was hilarious watching her try on different pairs and making strange faces at everyone while she did so.

And to prove what a crazy bunch they are, their friends gave them a little present, fit for only bedroom use. Their actual day came early when everyone bugged Alex to put on his new undies over his pants. Gotta love the colour, though!

Thank you for letting me be a part of your day, even though you had more than adequate help in taking photos, and I really hope that you guys like the pictures! :)

Mini - Update

Hi everyone!

I know, I know, I did say I'll blog more and all that, but between going through all my images, meeting new customers and getting albums ready, I really find it hard to blog! Not to worry though, I have a ton of posts written up, waiting to be published. They're mostly just waiting for me to get around to selecting my favorites from the day, so there should be something new coming up very soon!

Anyway, I'd just like to let everyone know that I'll be away from the 11th to 15th Feb for the Chinese New Year celebrations! I swear, I'm going to become so round from all the Chinese New Year goodies that my couples will not be able to recognize me anymore!

We Choose Love, We Choose Light;

Shirley and Alex got married on the same day as Monika and Bayu, and guess what, they got the same JP as well! Which was such a coincidence! It was held at the Fullerton, in the suite on the top floor and man, that place has got one gorgeous view. You could see Clarke Quay on one side, the new IR on the other, the flyer, CBD, etc etc. I love how grand the Fullerton is!

I thought the two of them made a very sweet couple! When they collected their disc from me, we actually chatted about things ranging from their upcoming wedding, to things like Avatar, and disney movies! And we chatted for more than an hour, one of the longest conversations I had in quite a while.

Here's a shout out to the both of you! May you guys have an enjoyable customary, and a long lasting marriage!

Botanical Gardens in the morning of Christmas season is a gorgeous place. It was seriously like fairy land. They had all these different trees set up everywhere, and each tree was decorated by a different organization, such as Ikea, Hwa Chong, Tampines East CC, HPB, etc. It was simply stunning.

Bayu and Monika were both from Indonesia, but are happily staying in Singapore now, and they had a very small (and I mean, really small) ceremony by the swan lake in Botanical Gardens. Just the couple, two other friends, the JP and me made up the wedding party, and it was done in record time as well!

It was supposed to start at 8am, but nothing was set up yet because the table guys didn't know where Swan Lake was! So when they finally came, it was a mad frenzy to get everything set up as quickly as possible. The JP (Dr. Phua, if I'm not mistaken), was a stern looking, but actually quite funny man, and he married them, wishing them to "live happily ever after".

It was perfect weather, and we walked around, taken shots of Bayu and Monika in various places in the gardens. I love the fact that they are so cute together! Always laughing and smiling. I find it of utmost importance to be happy in life, and these two are seriously, happy.

Kim and her daughters was staying is the most amazing apartment that I have ever been to. Every single time, I drive by the ECP, I will take a look outside the window and up to the penthouse, and tell myself that one day, I want to be up there. I got my wish! I didn't stay up there, but I shot the family who stayed there!

The view was spectacular.

When I told my honey, he was looked at me and said, "You got a shot of the view right? Right?" I just gave him a sheepish grin and said, "Uh, no?" I was since clobbered with small bouts of, "But you were already up there! With a camera!" in between.

Nelle is a sweet kid, and she reminded me a lot of when I was her age! I really hoped the photos do her justice, because she is really quite good, and she does not need too much direction.

Just Keep The Faith, And Let Love Lead The Way;

Ting Hway and Dan's wedding was the beginning of a very, very long week for me. I had just gotten a bit better from my flu and still tire easily. Subsequent days was spent involved with a very, very tedious freelance project (at least I got to see some of my ex-colleague's again!), and it was only today that I managed to get some rest after this exhausting week.

I love the fact that Ting Hway did her own make up for the morning ceremony. It's not very often that brides do that! She still look gorgeous all the same. There's this thing about brides on their wedding day- they all simply just exude beauty. And I think Ting Hway's inner beauty was like a light that lit up a dark, dingy room.

The boys had a ton of fun trying to get into the house. Ting Hway's nephews, both very skilled in martial arts, were the obstacle that stood between Dan and his wife to be. Having to copy the boy's every move proved to be a hell of a challenge for all of them, but in the end, the young shaolin masters to be were satisfied, and Dan managed to move on, finally claiming his bride.

The ceremony was held at NTU's chinese heritage center. I must must say that I did not know how to get there, and the videographer (AlvinaAdeline) for the day knew, so I drove behind him and whao, did he drive! My old matrix was barely able to keep up with him and I lost him quite a number of times. I hope bosslady Regina didn't feel all queasy from that rollercoaster ride. (On a side note: Alvin and Adeline were a dream to work with. Very professional and friendly!)

Everyone had such a good time, it was really most enjoyable to see the happy faces, all genuine, and all loving. Everyone that came really loved the couple from the bottom of their hearts, and you could really see that, the whole atmosphere was dripping with true, real love and happiness for the couple. Albeit the wedding was a simple affair, it was an amazing one nonetheless.

I've Been Waiting For This Moment, With Tears Of Happiness;

The wedding banquet of Ting Hway and Dan was grand, being held in the luxurious Shangri-La, of course. But it wasn't the least bit flashy. There was no toast, no cake, no dried ice, none of the usual frills of a wedding banquet, and yet, the meaning of the night transcended all of that. The speeches by the couple, the father, as well as the sister were all filled with love and the night didn't need all the normal tradition of a wedding banquet to be just as beautiful, and just as meaningful.

I love the fact that Ting Hway and Dan went table to table and made it a point to pay attention to each and every one of their guests. Knowing Ting Hway and Dan, or at least shooting their wedding, makes me want to be a better person, and I'm sure all their guests feel the same way.

What Started Out as Friendship Just Grew Stronger;

Li Yun and Eric had this perfect wedding planned and all decked out nicely on Carlton's fountain terrace, but as Singapore weather would have it, a sudden shower dampened the mood slightly. Of course the show must go on, and it would never rain of Eric and Li Yun's parade. I managed to capture a couple of details outdoor before the rain started! Of course, despite all of that, the wedding was still as perfect as it should be. We even managed to get some outdoor shots after the sky cleared up!

My heart really goes out to all those couples who met in school, they knew each other since young and they go through the various stages of life together, learning, being separated (a lot of times, irritatingly so) by national service, and growing up with each other. Of course, eventually growing old with each other as well. And they are one such couple. They are really sweet and friendly people, and I wish them all the best and I hope they do think of me when the time comes for their actual day as well! :D

Sabrina and Jason's wedding was held at the Holy Trinity. I, for one being a catholic, has always thought of church weddings to be and extremely magical affair. Maybe I'm just biased, that way, haha! But before they could receive their blessings from God, poor Jason had to go through a little bit of torture, just to prove how much Sabrina meant to him! With the unknown food items and singing and a whole lot of humping, he finally manages to reach his bride.

Jason and Sabrina, I really, really need to say a bit thank you to the both of you, for allowing me to be a part of your love. May married life bring many more reasons for you guys to keep smiling. :)

For A Smile They Can Share The World;

I apologize for the sudden lack of updates. I have been ill and trying to rest so that I don't miss out on any shoots I have going on. So today, I will have a massive blog updates, starting with this highly photogenic couple!

Jason and Angelia was introduced to me by a mutual friend I met on twitter. I know most people think that social networking is a complete waste of time, but I did meet a lot of very interesting people there! I do think it is very important to stay current and relevant, it helps me keep in touch with some of my customers too!

On a separate note, how cool is Angelia's name? I love it!

Their ROM was held at Sheraton Towers, and though not my first time shooting at the hotel, it was my first time at the fountain terrace. However, due to heavy rains, they had to move the entire thing indoors! How sad is that :( But it was fun nonetheless. I wish every wedding I attend, I could have this much fun. I laughed until my stomach ached!

The highlight of the whole day was when Angelia threw her bouquet. None of her friends wanted to catch it, but instead this this cute little girl decided to go for it instead! The girl's mom didn't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Mudd and Ma Jia was really one of those fairy tale stories. Mudd was from Kualar Lumpur, and Ma Jia was from BeiJing. And even though they worked in the same company, neither of them thought that they would find a future with each other. But as fates would have it, Mudd had the opportunity to work in BeiJing alongside Ma Jia, and a beautiful relationship began.

It was a very intimate affair, with immediately family members and a couple of friends who drove down (5 hours!) from KL. It was my first time in a mosque as well! Quite the experience. I learnt about all the house rules, which was especially significant being a girl, and it was quite an enjoyable experience. Ma Jia was so moved in the moment of the vows that tears just kept on rolling down her cheeks. It got me all choked up inside as well.

The lunch was really yummy! They even had a seat for me, the videographer and the make up artist as well. They are such a lovely and sweet couple, and I really want to thank them (even though I know they can't really see this in china, as blogspot is banned there) for sharing their day with me. Congratulations to you and may you have a long and happy marriage, Mudd and Ma Jia.

I have so many pictures from this wedding I want to share with you guys it's crazy. It's all about self restraint haha.

Wow, how busy have I been since wedding season is starting again! I'll try to do one post a week. I know my last interlude was pretty long. A lot of appointments with customers, and a lot of shooting going on.

Daniel and Joyce are such a fun loving, at the same time, really chill couple. I enjoyed shooting their ROM simply for the fact that they kept smiling the entire time I was around. Future spouses to be! Please take a page out of their book and remember to smile! It really is a happy, happy occasion and everyone should be grinning from ear to ear.

I was actually pleasantly surprised when meeting up with them they would simply ask about me in terms of relationships, etc. My conversations with my couples tend to revolve around their planning and such, which is rightfully so, since it is, afterall, their big, big day! I thought it was really sweet of them to take an interest in my life and end up adding me as a facebook friend!

I honestly hope that all my couples turn out to be my friends, in the end, because, well, the more the merrier, when it comes to friends!

The first shoot of mine after the seventh month was an ROM for Scott and Cara. They are such an awesome couple, and I'm really thankful for them for letting me be part of their day. Their ceremony was held at CSC at Bukit Batok, and we managed to catch a few shots of just the two of them before the guests arrived. They were a bit nervous at the beginning, but after a while they became pros at posing! Okay, enough talk. Pictures!

I was really very glad that Lionel and Parlin have full confidence in me shooting their wedding banquet, and honestly, it was such fun! It wasn't really the things that happened that made it fun, it was the people. They had an amazing group of friends, all wonderful and absolutely charming. Not to mention hilarious as well. I spent most of the time laughing along with their friends. I love weddings like this, where it feels as though I'm "part of the gang", even for a few hours of a day.

A lovely lady by the name of Vinu had called me sometime in the beginning of August, and had asked me to shoot her two children, hoping that she could send out some of their photos to talent agencies and they would be able to get jobs from there. So we arranged a date and I went over to their house in Serangoon area to do a quick shoot for them.

I tell you, and I am not exaggerating, their house is absolutely gorgeous. I was awed by their furniture (how detailed everything was), and also by how clean and bright the whole house looked. Everything put together was super duper pretty, yet it didn't look overdone, like a showroom that had a very warm lived-in feeling to it.

The only thing that outshone the house were the people living in it. Sapna is gorgeous and the camera just loves her. Vishay is handsome and has a very bollywood hero look going for him. Vinu herself was very warm and friendly! The poor dear had hurt her back when I came over. I do hope she's feeling a whole lot better now.

Anyway, this is the first time ever using my new swanky 40D and I'm loving it! The quality is far better than my trusty old 400D and it's a whole lot smarter too! I can't wait to shoot more with it!

How Much is That Doggie on the Window, Woof Woof?

I believe most of you know that our company donates a small percentage of our profit two local charities, one of which is Action for Singapore Dogs. It's an organization that helps stray dogs as well as rehoming dogs. I honestly think that what they do is something very, very kind and as much as possible, please do support them. And after reading the terrible plight some dogs have to go through because they have been dumped by their owners, or for whatever reason they needed to be rehome, I'm quite glad that I actually adopted my dog. Many of you know that I have a lovely little shih tzu, Yuki! She's such a darling. We've had her for I think close to 7 years now, and she gels really well with everyone in the family. We think she thinks she's not a dog though, haha. She loves humans and likes to fight with other animals.

We got her close to when she was a few months old. Half a year old, maybe. Her previous owner had bought her for her sons, but as they were too young to look after her and their family helper was going home permanently, they had put her up for adoption, and we got in touch through a friend's friend. We saw her and immediately fell in love. She was so funny, in a very stupid/blur kind of way. Since then, she has brought us much laughter and joy, and sometimes tears when we realized she ran out of the house (always not far, but oh so scary).

I guess she's one of the lucky ones, who hadn't had the need to go through the homelessness, the hunger, the loneliness of being a stray.

I urge all friends and couples who visit this blog and happen to see this, please adopt. These dogs waiting to be rehomed might be difficult in the beginning, but that's only because they're frightened. With proper love and care, I believe they can be a wonderful addition to any family. :)

Just came back from Bintan a couple of hours ago, and already I'm blogging. See how much I love you guys to be blogging at this hour when I'm so sleepy. People go to resorts and become revitalized but I ended up being really sleepy instead. Why ah? I think it's because we slept too much, then our bodies feel shiok and don't want to wake up anymore.

Sham (my honey) decided that my birthday present was going to be a trip overseas! We booked 3 days 2 nights at Bintan Lagoon Resort, and it was honestly very good! I expected quite bad because of negative reviews but I really enjoyed my stay there!

I actually did up this whole post with pictures and everything, but I decided to take it down because, well, it's a tad bit too personal to be put up here. Just know that I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and am back to take on more work and fulfill all the weddings that I'm lined up to shoot. :)

P.S. The photos not very glam also, very normal tourist-y shots. So don't feel like you've missed out on anything!

Just Me, You And The Dance Floor!

Off to Bintan for a short getaway. Won't be bringing my darling dslr along, as I fear the wind and waves will attempt to murder it, but I'll be bringing my trusty little compact camera. Will post some pictures when I get back from this little short holiday. Many many thanks to bosslady Regina for helping me out with the scheduling of customers while I'm gone. I'm glad we've worked out a way to see each other's schedule!

Anyway, if you haven't already seen, this is something that should keep you entertained for a while! :) Couples that are to be married, especially take note! This video put a great big smile on my face. If I ever do have a wedding in the future, I'd like something like this. Everyone should have fun on their big day, and the best part is, you surprise all your guest and everyone will remember you wedding. It don't get more memorable than this.

No Matter What We Are, We Are Family

Sorry! I know it's been some time since my last entry. July has been quite busy month! My appointments are picking up and I'm very hopeful in getting my name out there into the industry. Here's a family I shot recently. They are absolutely amazing. All of them are so close to one another. I really wished my family was as close as they were, but with my sister married and moving out, it's going to be a little quiet from now on.

Anyway, Robert and Serita were originally from Sydney, and they were in Singapore for a couple of years because Robert was posted here. They are, however, back in Sydney now! This was shot just a week prior to their return. They were staying at Treetops Service Apartments, and Serita suggested we did our shoot there. And I must say she made a good choice! The place was breathtaking!

Patrick and Bridget's wedding dinner was held at the Sheraton Towers Hotel, and the hotel is really a lovely place for a wedding, with the high ceiling and the chandeliers. Patrick and Bridget are such a genuine couple, I could really feel the warmth they had in each hug and kiss that they gave all their friends and family, their smiles filled with love and their eyes twinkling with happiness. They had a live band with a few surprise performances, which really entertained everyone, but Patrick stole the night with his speech to Bridget. It was humorous, but you could really tell the deep love he has for her, and watching her watching him, you really could feel her heart filling up with joy.

How Sweet it is to be Loved by You

It was my good fortune to be able to shoot Roland and Hui Shan's ROM in the Singapore Arts Museum. Yes, I did get lost trying to drive my way there, unfortunate enough to pass by the same ERP gantries twice. Cut me some slack, I'm still a new driver, and town isn't exactly the most favourable driving conditions. But I did end up at the museum on time. The chapel is a lovely place and the details were stunning. I'm sure it must have burnt quite a big hole in the couple's wallet!

But Roland is one of the sweetest grooms I've met, having not one, but two surprises for his bride! Going all out and planning everything so that the day would go smoothly without Hui Shan having to worry one bit. I love how the photos came out for this wedding, and I hope you do too!

The Joy of Shooting With My Headphones On.

While having some time to kill and my camera was with me, for once, I decided to try and take some photos, and to challenge myself to make normal everyday things looks interesting/really pretty. I had my headphones on and shooting with the world completely blocked out is kind of nice. These shots and no meaning to them, they are a meaningless set of photographs. I shoot because I love to shoot.

It's Brittany's test shoot! I was contacted by her mom, Julia, who is also a fantastic talent, to shoot some test shots for her daughters, Brittany and Bronte. This time round we shot Brittany only. Julia was hoping Brittany gets some modeling jobs to help pay her way through college. It was a blast! They were babysitting some kids in this beautiful black and white house along Bukit Timah and we decided to do the shoot there. I do hope Brittany would be able to land jobs with the photographs I took, and I'm really excited to shoot her sister Bronte, too!

Adam, The First Born

Karim and Vanessa were in town for a short little while, and we arranged to have a mini-photo session of their family before heading out to dinner. Adam is the cutest thing ever! He loves hindi songs, and love watching hindi mtvs. And he kept dancing while Karim played songs from his handphone.

They're now expecting their second child, and Vanessa thinks it's going to be a female, based solely on her mother's intuition. These were taken at the condo that they were staying at during their visit. I can't wait to shoot Vanessa when her stomach's bigger!

A friend from secondary school participated in a rock climbing competition and she asked me if I could photograph her and her team. Having never seen a rock climbing event before, it sure was an eye opener! The people were all very friendly and everyone around had great sportmanship, even cheering on climbers not on their own teams! There was really a lot of love going around! Beatrice and Tirtha are different in so many ways, but yet despite everything, they both found something special in each other. It was wonderful that their parents too, saw this love and allowed them to be together despite their cultural differences. We went over to India where some of Bea's relatives followed, to have a traditional Indian wedding. With swishing sarees and beautiful mehendi art, it was a very colourful affair. Chinese New Year 2008! Beatrice and Tirtha were kind enough to allow me to experiment with some studio lighting on them. They are really a ball of fun to shoot and even though Tirtha was kind of nervous at first, he slowly warmed up with coaxing from his bride to be. Here are the pictures, I hope you enjoy!
